Ribbon Projects for Ribbon Lovers

Type the words ‘ribbon projects’ into Google and the internet goes mad, filling up with thousands of ideas from no-sew ribbon projects to ribbon crafts in under an hour – it’s an online wonderland for crafters, sewers and ribbon lovers!

Here at Faye’s Sewing Box we can easily lose ourselves for hours with just a roll of pretty ribbon and plenty of inspiration, which is why we have decided to pull a handful of our favourite projects and ideas together.

We’ve recommended ribbons to go with our favourite projects; polka dots, stripes, patterned ribbons and aliens all feature. Have fun making.

Ribbon project one: finishing parcels with ribbon

ribbon-blog-image-1

Using ribbon to finish your parcels is a really easy way to make a gift look stylish and extra thoughtful. There are no hard and fast rules on the best ribbon to use but we love a strong colour and a simple pattern set against a plain paper, particularly brown paper. Try our green and white stripe ribbon for this one. Buy online

Ribbon project two: triangle fabric weights

There’s no surprise that this project has been shared over 7,000 times on pinterest . It takes just ten minutes to sew these practical fabric weights, which can also double up as drawer or room fresheners when you add a drop of your favourite essential oil. The little ribbon loops can co ordinate or contrast with your choice of fabrics but we always love a satin finish, such as our white satin ribbon with silver hearts. Buy online

Ribbon project three: felt animal baby toy

ribbon-blog-image-threeAnd sew it begins shared this lovely project requiring just a little hand sewing. Perfect as a handmade gift for a new baby, we would also hand sew the eyes for safety. Varying the project with different textures and colours of ribbon would work really well but we’d love to see a lamb version of this toy with loops of our sheep ribbons. (insert link) We stock pink, green and cream. Let us know if you try this one out, we’d love to see your creations!
